Project description

In Yazmany’s words, the installation comes from a session of “Constelaciones” in which the need for Bilbao residents to have a place where the rain could wash away the generational trauma that many families have suffered since the war was sensed.

Regarding the structure of the installation, its main function is to guarantee the stability of the vertical planes against horizontal actions: wind, thrusts. For this, rear buttresses anchored to the ground have been designed. The anchors have been designed in such way that they allow the height of the wooden pieces to be adjusted, to facilitate their manufacture and assembly.

When Yazmany saw the executed rear buttress structure, he decided, instead of covering it with panels as planned, to paint it an optimistic yellow and leave it exposed.
